Choose your news source — links to national U.S. newspapers, local newspapers (by state), international newspapers, magazines, and broadcast media Web sites. Most online newspapers have a two-week (or so) archive of their stories.
"Search and browse 4,500 news sources updated continuously." Includes stories that appeared in the last 30 days. News is displayed according to a computer algorithm, "based on many factors including how often and on what sites a story appears elsewhere on the web."
Search for today's news stories by choosing "Today" as the Date on Quick News Search; or use "Guided News Search" and then the category "Today's News." There you can search through all 73 of "Today's Selected News Sources" or choose one or more from the "Source List" which includes the New York Times, Washington Post, and other national and international newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, and news digests.
The library subscribes to five daily newspapers that are delivered the day they are published; the current day's issue is located in the newspaper rack in the Reference area of Getchell Library, older issues are in the bins nearby until replaced by microfilm:

The library also subscribes to newspapers that arrive by mail a few days after publication and issues are located in bins in the Reference area of Getchell Library until replaced by microfilm:
Indexes newspapers, magazines and journals of the alternative and independent press. Covers a broad range of critical issues confronting contemporary society. 1994- present.
Articles, editorials, reviews, etc. from newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic, minority, and native press. Search in English or Spanish. 1990- present.
Indexes FBIS Daily Reports issued by the U.S. Government on worldwide political, economic, scientific, and cultural issues or events. The reports are translations of foreign news or government sources.
Coverage varies, but you can find 25-year-old articles from some sources. Some articles by free lance journalists are not included. Covers national and international newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, and news digests.
Includes articles from news weeklies and a few newspapers, including USA Today and the Christian Science Monitor. Indexes the New York Times and Wall Street Journal but does not include full text. Search results can be limited to "Newspapers."
Full page and article images with searchable full text; articles from the first issue, Sept. 18, 1851, through 2004. Some articles and photographs by freelance writers and photographers are not included.
Archives stories about significant events; includes exhibits about the history of the news (including "stories of the century"), photojournalism, and editorial cartoons.
Search or browse over 2,200 historic newspapers. 1759- present. Includes the following Nevada newspapers: Daily Nevada State Journal, Nevada State Journal, Nevada Evening Gazette, Reno Evening Gazette, Reno Evening News, Weekly Gazette And Stockman, Weekly Nevada State Journal, Weekly Reno Gazette.
Microfilm reels of many newspapers are filed by numbers beginning with "N" in cabinets in the Reference area on the main floor of Getchell Library. Find the number by searching for the title in the library catalog, or browse the Complete list of newspapers on microform in the library. Microfilm readers and reader-printers are located in the area. All newspapers listed under "Current News" are received on Microfilm (except USA Today). Some other newspapers on microfilm are:
Choose Guided Search and then "World News" from the pull-down menu under News Category. You must then choose from a selection of regional news sources, after which you can search for your topic.
