The Reno-Virginia Transportation Company


The Reno-Virginia Transportation Company was a railroad company in existence from 1925-1930. Its original office was located in the Virginia and Truckee Railway Depot in Carson City, Nevada. The company was formed to buy, sell, and operate automobiles, trucks, and any kind of vehicle in order to transport passengers and freight. There were three owners and directors of the company: S. C. Bigelow, F. E. Murphy, and W. Cobb. S. C. Bigelow and F. E. Murphy lived in Carson City and W. Cobb lived in Virginia City, Nevada. In May 1930, E. W. Miller was hired to be the auditor.

 

Scope and Content


The Reno-Virginia Transportation Company records consist of 0.5 cubic feet of material. There are no restrictions on its use.

The material includes mainly the legal and financial information of the Reno-Virginia Transportation Company, and does not include any correspondence. The items, contained in four volumes and arranged in two series, consist of the certificate of incorporation; bylaws; minutes of the meetings of the board of directors; and financial journals and ledgers on various accounts.

Series 1 includes the legal information for the company, including the articles of incorporation, by-laws, minutes, and stockholders information.
