Our main campus library is in the Knowledge Center (this includes the General Collection, Popular Collection, KC Reference Collection, Special Collections, and KC Government Publications). For music, movies, and language-instruction materials, go to the Multimedia Center on the ground floor of the Knowledge Center. The Knowledge Center also houses the Basque Library, on the third floor. Older books and back issues of journals are in our automated retrieval system (MARS). Request these items in the catalog and then pick them up at the Library Services desk in the Knowledge Center. The DeLaMare Library in the Mackay Mines Building has most of our engineering, geology, chemistry, and physics resources. Savitt Medical Library is located in the Pennington Medical Education building.
The Knowledge Center is open 7:30 AM to midnight, Monday through Thursday (we close at 7 PM on Fridays). Weekend hours are 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturdays, and 10 AM to midnight on Sundays. For other library hours, and for the hours of the Knowledge Center's helpdesks, check the schedule.
Graduate students can reserve studies and carrels and use the Faculty and Graduate Reading Room. In addition, there is general study space throughout the Knowledge Center. Quiet and group study spaces are both available. All floors have group study areas: study rooms on the fifth floor can be reserved, while rooms on floors 2-4 and group study booths in @One are first come first served. The fifth floor is a quiet study floor, and the Tower Reading Rooms on floors 2 and 3 are reserved for quiet study as well.
Accessing Library Materials
Your WolfCard is your library card! The 14-digit barcode
on the back of your WolfCard is your library account number, used when you check out library materials and request books from other libraries through our Link+ system.
Log in with your NetID for computer use in the Knowledge Center, off-campus access to electronic resources, interlibrary loan, and requests from MARS.
Return library books at book returns located at the Library Services desk in the Knowledge Center, bookdrops in the lobby of the Knowledge Center, the outside bookdrops on the East and West side of the Knowledge Center, at the back of the former Getchell Library and in front of the Fleischman Ag. Building or at any University of Nevada, Reno branch library. When the library is closed, books may be returned in the outside bookdrops. You are responsible for
all materials checked out until they reach the library from which you
checked them out.
You may use your NetID for off-campus access to journal article indexes, electronic journals, electronic reserves, and other resources licensed by the UNR Libraries.
Search the Library Catalog
for books, journal titles, government publications, videos.
Search Tips:
Type your keywords into the general search box to search title, author, subject
headings, and content notes. To narrow down your results, use the tags on the right or the options on the left after starting a search.
If you need more search options, try
the Advanced Subject
Search, which makes it easy to search by title, author, or LC subject and to combine terms with OR, AND, and
AND NOT (boolean operators).
A Journal
and Newspaper Title search will find catalog records for print
titles owned by the library and most electronic titles licensed
for UNR users. The library catalog does not list individual journal articles.

Outside of those hours, use AskUs! to email a question. You can also chat with a librarian Monday-Thursday 11-5.
