Course Reserves Information for Students

Materials placed on reserve by instructors are available for restricted circulation. The collection consists of library and personal copies of books, articles, pamphlets, sample exams, homework solutions, and multmedia for class assignments.

Reserves Access

Generally, reserve materials are located in the library that houses materials for that particular discipline, i.e. Biology and English class reserves in the Knowledge Center, geology reserves in the DeLaMare Library. Specifically, reserve materials are found at the Library Services Desk and at the Multimedia Center in the Knowledge Center or at the Service Desk in the DeLaMare Library.Search the online catalog by course, i.e. Psychology 307, or by instructor's last name to retrieve the course reserve list. Use the call number listed to request the needed item at the appropriate Service Desk.

Reserves Circulation

Reserve materials may be checked out with a current library card. For Electronic Reserves, off-campus users will have to authenticate by providing their NetID and passowrd to access the materials.

Loan Periods

Loan periods for paper reserve items are set by the instructor. These periods may be: 2 hour, 12 hour, 3 day or 7 day. Multimedia Center reserve loan periods are for 2 hour/library use only. Occasionally an instructor may request an overnight loan period.

Overdue Fines

Overdue fines are $1.00 per hour for 2 hour and 12 hour reserves and $5.00 per day for 3 day and 7 day reserves.

Where to Return Reserves Materials

Reserve materials must be returned to the library where they were checked out. Knowledge Center reserves may be returned to the outside book drop only during hours the library is closed.

Renewals

Reserves are nonrenewable. You must wait 15 minutes before you may check out the same item again.
